Sports Mole previews Saturday's Championship clash between Rotherham United and Queens Park Rangers, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Two of the Championship bottom half's in-form teams meet on Saturday afternoon as Rotherham United host Queens Park Rangers.

Both clubs have four wins from their last seven league games, helping them move away from relegation danger.

Match preview

Rotherham in 20th are still only a point above the bottom three but that is certainly a position that Paul Warne would take at the end of the campaign considering the club's last two seasons in the Championship have ended in relegation.

Only Brentford have picked up more Championship points in 2021 than the Millers, whose 2-1 loss to Cardiff City on Tuesday night was only their second league defeat of the calendar year.

Joe Bennett's winning goal came in the 85th minute, and Warne admitted that he thought his side were hard done by not to come away with something from the game.

Rotherham have won four out of their 14 matches at the New York Stadium this season, while only Birmingham City have conceded more home league goals than the South Yorkshire outfit.

QPR – who won 3-2 in the reverse fixture at Loftus Road – are on a run of three consecutive away victories and are unbeaten in a total of six games on their travels.

Yoann Barbet's second-half goal secured a 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers last weekend to lift Mark Warburton's side five points clear of the bottom three in 16th – their highest placing since the end of November.

They are now looking to achieve three successive league victories for the first time since September 2019.

QPR face two of the top six next week – Bournemouth and West London rivals Brentford – so will be keen to continue building momentum going into those tricky tests.

Team News

Warne has revealed that Jamie Lindsay's hamstring injury is worse than first feared and that the midfielder will be out for around two months.

Jamal Blackman is available for selection again after a period of self-isolation, but it is likely that Viktor Johansson will continue in goal.

Kieran Sadlier is edging closer to a return following three months out with an ankle injury, but Warne has admitted the winger is still some way off being able to start a game.

Lyndon Dykes was taken off after a knock to the head late on in QPR's win over Blackburn and is a doubt for the trip to the New York Stadium.

Macauley Bonne would be the obvious option to replace Dykes in the final third - a move which would see Warburton return to the starting XI that beat Watford.

January loan signings Jordy de Wijs and Sam Field are still not fit enough to be involved.

Rotherham United possible starting lineup:
Johansson; Ihiekwe, A. MacDonald, Robertson; Harding, Wing, Barlaser, Wiles, Giles; Crooks, Smith

Queens Park Rangers possible starting lineup:
Dieng; Dickie, Cameron, Barbet; Kane, Ball, Johansen, Wallace; Chair; Bonne, Austin

We say: Rotherham United 2-2 Queens Park Rangers

Both sides will fancy their chances in this one given their recent good form, and it could be an entertaining encounter as the pair have found their shooting boots lately; we cannot separate them, though, so are predicting a draw.
