Sports Mole looks ahead to Saturday's Championship encounter between newly-promoted duo Rotherham and Wolves at New York Stadium.

Wolverhampton Wanderers will be looking to continue their bright start to life back in the Championship when they take on Rotherham United at New York Stadium on Saturday.

Last season's League One champions faced a tricky assignment against recently-relegated Norwich City in their opening match last Sunday, but David Edwards's goal was enough to down the Canaries.

Such a strong start will have given Wolves huge confidence for the rest of the season, especially considering that they have been tipped by many to challenge for the playoffs despite their recent promotion.

However, that confidence could well be in tatters following a midweek defeat to League Two side Northampton Town, who edged to a 3-2 victory at Molineux to knock Wolves out of the League Cup.

Manager Kenny Jackett does not have any fresh injury worries from the defeat, but Wolves did miss out on Leicester City's Chris Wood earlier this week after failing to agree terms with the striker.

Even so, the Midlands outfit will be eyeing Saturday's match as a winnable encounter against a team that joined them in going up from the third tier last season.

Unlike Wolves, Rotherham are expected to be in amongst the relegation candidates this season, although there were promising signs for them on the opening weekend.

The Millers fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Derby County, but kept the automatic promotion candidates at bay until the 82nd minute, when Jeff Hendrick netted the winner.

It was certainly a tough start to the campaign for the newly-promoted side, and Steve Evans was happy with his team's application despite the end result.

A repeat performance in front of their first home league crowd of the season could well be enough for them to get something out of the match this time around, although fatigue could play a part following their midweek exploits.

Evans saw his side taken all the way to extra time in their League Cup first-round match against Fleetwood Town before Matt Derbyshire's penalty in the 109th minute sealed victory for the Championship side.

Rotherham picked up no new injuries over the 120 minutes and could name an unchanged side to the one that pushed Derby so close last weekend.

One thing this fixture did promise last season was goals, with the two teams sharing a staggering 16 in their two league meetings.
