Paul Green comes off the bench to score the only goal in Rotherham United's 1-0 win over Dundee in a pre-season friendly.

A second-half strike from Paul Green secured a 1-0 win for Rotherham United in their pre-season friendly against Dundee this evening.

Danny Ward tried to create an opening for the visitors inside the opening couple of minutes, only to find his path blocked, while Grant Ward saw his free kick headed over by Danny Collins a couple of minutes later.

Nick Ross had the first clear-cut chance of the match for Dundee following a quick break down the left, but he could only fire over after breaking into the box.

On-loan goalkeeper Kelle Roos had to be alert in the Rotherham goal as Daryll Meggatt attempted to head the ball in from close range, but the shot-stopper palmed it clear.

The hosts wanted a penalty of the cusp of half time as Simon Ferry took a tumble in the box, but the referee was not convinced by the midfielder's shouts.

Dundee made a bright start to the second half, putting Roos under pressure in the Rotherham goal early on, but Collins was back to help out the keeper as Ferry closed in on a loose ball.

Matt Derbyshire was soon on the attack down the other end as the visitors pushed to break the deadlock, but his low drive from the edge of the area finished a fraction wide.

The Millers did take the lead with just over an hour gone as Green, who had come off the bench just a few minutes earlier, blasted the ball in from close range following a quick break.

James McPake tried his luck from long range as Dundee sought a quick equaliser, but his 35-yard effort flew comfortably high of Roos's crossbar.

Dundee continued to push for a goal in the final 10 minutes as youngster John Black delivered a cross for Philip Roberts, but the Irish striker could not quite get his foot to it to tap it in.
