Sampdoria have recorded their biggest Serie A win of the season by beating Hellas Verona 5-0 at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in Genoa this afternoon.
The home side took the lead in the fourth minute when Renan's long-range effort smashed against the post and Gianluca Sansone followed up to slot in the rebound.
The hosts scored a second midway through the first half when Renan was picked out on the edge of the box by Manolo Gabbiadini's corner before firing the ball into the bottom corner.
Roberto Soriano extended their lead in the 38th minute when he arrived in the box to meet Vasco Regini's cross and placed the ball home from close range.
After the break the home side continued to dominate and grabbed a fourth goal through Soriano, who worked his way to the edge of the box and drilled a powerful strike across Rafael and into the far corner.
They almost scored again moments later when Sansone burst into the box and flashed a shot narrowly wide of the post.
Sampdoria did manage to score a fifth goal in the 58th minute when Angelo Palombo fired in a low free kick from just outside the box.
The visitors almost pulled a goal back when Luca Toni had a shot beaten away by the keeper, with Emil Hallfredsson putting the rebound wide.
Michael Rabusic was the next to try his luck for Verona with a fierce strike from the edge of the area that was pushed away by Junior Costa, but they could not find the net as Sampdoria ran out comfortable winners.
