Schalke 04 have produced an efficient display to beat Hertha Berlin away from home in the Bundesliga.
There were no chances inside the opening 10 minutes with both sides looking nervous before Anis Ben-Hatira almost beat Timo Hildebrand with a low drive, but it was well stopped.
The hosts ramped up the pressure and Sebastian Langkamp headed just wide from a corner when he probably should have done better.
Adam Szalai started to make himself a threat and he broke the deadlock midway through the half, heading in a Dennis Aogo corner.
Hildebrand was called into action again in the second half, flying across to tip over Tolga Cigerci's goal-bound effort.
However, Hertha were unable to find the equaliser and after pressing forward late on were undone on the counter, with Julian Draxler completing the win late on.
