Obafemi Martins scored an 82nd-minute equaliser to earn a point for the Seattle Sounders in their clash against the San Jose Earthquakes.
Both sides struggled to carve out chances in the early stages of the match as neither could produce a quality delivery into the final third.
The Earthquakes were the first to threaten in the match when Anibal Godoy lifted a cross into the box for the run of Chris Wondolowski, but he headed his effort just over the bar.
Clarence Goodson almost handed the home side the lead in acrobatic fashion as he performed an over-head kick from a cross into the box, but his strike went inches past the post.
In the second half, San Jose went ahead as Matias Perez Garcia found the run of Fatai Alashe in the box and the forward made no mistake putting his effort beyond the reach of Stefan Frei.
However, Martins pulled a goal back for the Sounders with eight minutes to play when he fired a low strike into the bottom corner.
Adam Jahn almost put the Earthquakes back into the lead when he raced on to a cross from the right and powered a header towards the net, but his effort went just wide of the post.
