Sevilla have made it two consecutive wins in La Liga with a narrow 1-0 victory away to Rayo Vallecano.
The visitors took the lead with just eight minutes played when Carlos Bacca capitalised on some confusion inside the Vallecano defence to head past onrushing goalkeeper Cristian Alvarez.
Sevilla came close to making it 2-0 midway through an ill-tempered first half, but Victor Vitolo's effort was kept out by Alvarez.
Unai Emery's side continued to look the more dangerous after the break, and they could have extended their lead on the hour when Vitolo had a sight of goal, though he could only fire narrowly wide.
Despite rarely posing a threat throughout the match, Vallecano almost snatched an equaliser with five minutes left. However, Manucho guided his header over the crossbar after finding some space inside the box.
A successful afternoon for Sevilla was soured with two minutes left when Daniel Carrico was sent off following a second yellow card.
