Shakhtar Donetsk moved up to second in Group H by thrashing BATE Borisov 7-0 in Belarus this evening, giving the Ukrainian champions their first win of the group stage.

Luiz Adriano scored five goals including two penalties to clinch the victory, which leaves them two points behind group leaders Porto.

Shakhtar became the first team to score six times in the first half of a Champions League match, while Adriano is just the second player to net five times in a single match in the competition.

Here, Sports Mole rates the individual performances from both sides.

Goal

Sergey Chernik: The goalkeeper was responsible for giving away the first penalty and was lucky to stay on the pitch. Having let in seven goals, it was definitely a night to forget for the BATE keeper. (1/10)

Defence

Anri Khagush: Khagush did not have much of an impact at the back, but did create some decent half-chances up front for the hosts, although he was unable to convert any of them. (4/10)

Filip Mladenovic: The defender gave away the ball that led to the first goal and also conceded the second penalty to give Shakhtar their seventh goal, although the decision did seem a little harsh. (2/10)

Denis Polyakov: The experienced centre-back was fairly anonymous for the hosts, making few blocks or clearances, while failing to contribute to the attack. (2/10)

Nemanja Tubic: the defender made his presence felt early on, conceding a free kick inside the opening 20 seconds. He had a chance to clear the fifth goal, but instead inadvertently set up Adriano to complete his hat-trick before being taken off at half time. (1/10)

Midfield

Dzmity Likhtarovich: Likhtarovich barely had a touch in the first half as the hosts were played off the pitch, and he was replaced at half time as BATE sought to slow Shakhtar's attack down. (1/10)

Evgeni Yablonski: Yablonski tried to get forward a few times to set up a chance for the hosts, particularly in the first 20 minutes, but was unable to maintain in impact after the break. (3/10)

Aleksandr Karnitski: Kanitski was probably BATE's best player, having tested the visitors a few times going forward, but he was unable to really test the Shakhtar keeper. (5/10)

Maksim Volodko: Like Karnitski, Volodko got forward a few chances, and came closest to getting a goal back for the hosts when they were just a goal down, only to have his shot cleared off the line. (5/10)

Mikhail Gordejchuk: The winger had a couple of half-chances in the first half, and helped set up some opportunities for Karnitski, but was kept quiet after the break. (4/10)

Attack

Nikolai Signevich: The striker attempted a spectacular overhead bicycle kick to attempt to get a goal back for the hosts, but he was otherwise very quiet before being substituted with 15 minutes to spare. (2/10)

Substitutes

Ilia Aleksievich: The midfielder replaced Tubic at half time, and helped limit the number of chances that Shakhtar created after the break compared to their first-half onslaught. (3/10)

Vitali Gajduchik: The defender took over from Likhtarovich at the start of the second half, and made several decent blocks for the hosts. (4/10)

Dzmitry Baha: The winger played the final 15 minutes in place of Signevich, but did not have a shot before the full-time whistle. (X/10)

Goal

Andriy Pyatov: The Shakhtar keeper did not have too much work to do, but did make four saves to ensure that the visitors kept a clean sheet. (7/10)

Defence

Olexandr Kucher: The defender make some well-timed blocks for the Ukrainian champions to help limit the number of shots that Pyatov had to face. (5/10)

Viacheslav Shevchuk: Was part of a tidy back four, but also helped provide some service to the forwards, as well as taking on a shot himself late on. (6/10)

Darijo Srna: The captain made a vital clearance off the line while the visitors were just a goal up to stop BATE getting an equaliser, while also proving a handful up front. (7/10)

Yaroslav Rakitskiy: The defender helped halt the runs of Karnitski and Volodko in the first half while BATE were enjoying a strong spell, but had little impact up front. (4/10)

Midfield

Taras Stepanenko: Stepanenko was one of the quieter players for Shakhtar, but helped create a couple of chances for Teixeira in the first half. (4/10)

Fernando: The midfielder was taken off at half time with the team already assured of the win, but worked well with Costa and Teixeira prior to his substitution. (5/10)

Douglas Costa: The winger scored the third of Shakhtar's seven goals and looked like he could have added more, but was taken off at half time. (6/10)

Taison: After setting up two of Shakhtar's first six goals and attempting a couple of efforts himself, Taison was part of the visitors' triple substitution at the start of the second half. (6/10)

Alex Teixeira: The winger took the opening goal well before winning the penalty that gave the Ukrainian side their second, and continued to look a threat up front throughout. (8/10)

Attack

Luiz Adriano: The striker tortured the BATE defenders throughout the tie, slotting home five goals, winning a penalty and hitting the woodwork, as well as creating a number of chances for his teammates. (9/10)

Substitutes

Berard: Having replaced Fernando for the second half, Bernard came close to finding the back of the net late on, and helped ensure that Shakhtar maintained their attack throughout the second half. (6/10)

Marlos: The midfielder had a couple of chances to increase Shakhtar's score after replacing Costa at the break, but was unable to match the performance of the midfielder that he took over from. (5/10)

Fred: The Brazilian tried to link up with Teixeira and Adriano a few times, but did not have a huge impact after replacing Taison at the break. (X/10)
