Sheffield United find themselves holding a 1-0 half-time lead over hosts Peterborough United in League One this evening, thanks to Conor Sammon's opening effort.
Posh started the game in a lively fashion and they carved out a positive chance when Michael Bostwick cut inside, before unleashing a shot that flew just wide of the target.
United's first major chance arrived just under the 15-minute mark, when Sammon saw his effort saved smartly by Ben Alnwick.
The Blades continued to push for an opener and they found it just a few seconds later, as Sammon returned once more to convert into the top-right corner following Billy Sharp's productive pass.
Peterborough came close to equalising after 20 minutes, only for Marcus Maddison to see his long-range effort evade the top corner by a matter of inches.
The away side might have put themselves two goals to the good before the break, but Jay McEveley could only head over with just the keeper to beat.
