Sheffield United and Newcastle United have played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in Sunday's pre-season friendly and Chris Morgan testimonial at Bramall Lane.
Steve McClaren's charges were quickest off the starting blocks and saw Papiss Cisse strike the post just two minutes in after good work from Daryl Janmaat and Georginio Wijnaldum.
The Blades soon worked their way into the game and countered through Martyn Woolford and Che Adams, but first blood would be drawn by Newcastle five minutes before the break as Wijnaldum poked home after Cisse's initial effort was saved.
Sheffield United were level just four minutes after the restart through Mark McNulty, who exchanged passes with Adams before charging through on goal and sliding the ball in.
A high-tempo clash followed, with the Magpies seemingly set to claim the win after Jack Colback's corner from the left was nodded home by Siem de Jong in the 79th minute.
However, the Blades gave their fans cause for celebration and hope ahead of the new season by pegging their Premier League opponents back at the death through Kieron Freeman's long-range thunderbolt that left Tim Krul stranded.
