Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal has claimed that his side were "very soft" in their 3-1 defeat to Middlesbrough at Hillsborough.
Boro took the lead late in the first half through Adam Reach, but the home side battled back to equalise as Marco Matias found the back of the net with a deflected effort.
The North-East outfit restored their advantage when Diego Fabbrini found the net and Christian Stuani's late strike condemned the Owls to defeat.
Carvalhal told BBC Sport: "We played against one of the strongest teams in the Championship and we played very soft.
"We gave the ball to the opponents in the first 45 minutes and then we changed things. We tried to be more aggressive.
"There was a strong reaction and we started to create opportunities. The big lesson we must take from the game is that we must play from the beginning."
Wednesday are currently 15th in the Championship.
