Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal has admitted that he was pleased to secure a victory in his first competitive game in charge of the club.
The Owls began their Championship campaign with a 2-0 victory over newly-promoted Bristol City thanks to goals from Tom Lees and Lewis McGugan at Hillsborough.
He told the club's official website: "I am happy, the supporters are happy, and that is all we can ask for after the first game of the season.
"But I know that this is only the start, the first run of a long marathon. I try to be calm after the game, win, lose or draw.
"But right now I am happy for everyone, the players, the coaches, the chairman and, of course, our massive fans. They created a positive environment today which always has a positive effect on the team."
Carvalhal's side play Mansfield Town in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday.
