Gary Megson has admitted that he would like to return to Sheffield Wednesday in the future following his sacking.
Despite the club currently sitting third in the League One table, the 52-year-old was surprisingly dismissed by the Owls on Wednesday night after a year in charge.
"I am very saddened that I will no longer have the opportunity to manage my hometown club, Sheffield Wednesday," Megson said through a statement issued by the League Managers' Association.
"With just 13 games left this season and currently in third place in npower League One, it is very disappointing that I will not have the chance to guide this great club to promotion and back to the Championship.
"At some point in the future, I would love to come back to Hillsborough to finish the job I feel I had only just started."
Former Cardiff City boss Dave Jones has emerged as the early favourtite to take over at Hillsbrough.
