Sheffield Wednesday are said to be plotting an ambitious approach for Shakhtar Donetsk's Paulo Fonseca in their hunt for a new manager.
The Owls are currently without a manager after deciding to dispense with the services of Carlos Carvalhal on Christmas Eve with the club a disappointing 15th place in the Championship table.
According to The Sun, Wednesday's wealthy owner Dejphon Chansiri has lined up Fonseca as the ideal candidate to take over at the side and has made initial contact in an effort to convince the Portuguese to move to Sheffield.
Fonseca is the only manager to have masterminded a victory over Manchester City so far this season when his side claimed a 2-1 win in the final Champions League group game earlier this month.
That win ensured that Donetsk a place in the next stage of the competition, where they will face Roma in a two-legged last-16 tie.
Other options for Wednesday include ex-Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka and former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Paul Lambert.
