Brighton & Hove Albion have surrendered top spot in the Championship after being held to a goalless draw at Sheffield Wednesday.
The fans had to wait 17 minutes to see a shot on target, David Stockdale producing a save to prevent Jack Hunt from putting the Owls in front from a one-on-one situation.
Brighton enjoyed a spell of pressure in the closing stages of the first period, with a swift counter-attack of theirs coming to an end when Solomon March rifled a shot over the crossbar.
Chris Hughton's side started the second half brightly and came close within minutes of the restart as Beram Kayal went on a mazy run and fired over from 25 yards.
Wednesday ventured forward on the hour mark as Ross Wallace gained possession in the danger zone and let fly from long range, dragging his shot wide of Stockdale's post.
The Seagulls pressed again in the 70th minute after a free kick fell kindly for Uwe Hunemeier inside the area, but the German fired wide under pressure and the scores remained level.
The result sees Brighton slip down to third place in the Championship, while Wednesday lie in eighth.
