Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday finished goalless this afternoon, with both sides unable to capitalise on early chances.
Wednesday went close on the quarter-hour mark as Stevie May got up above Richard Keogh in the box to connect powerfully with a header, sending the ball just over the crossbar.
Derby broke minutes later, Chris Martin bursting into the Wednesday box only to fire wide from a tight angle when he could have held on to the ball.
The Sheffield outfit finished the first half the stronger side, May wasting another chance and Tom Lees going close with a header of his own.
Chances were limited early in the second half, and the pace did not pick up after both managers introduced changes late in the game.
Wednesday had a chance to snatch a win on 86 minutes as a cross from Liam Palmer was glanced wide by Gary Madine from around 12 yards but the game ended goalless.
