Southampton boss Claude Puel is reportedly weighing up a £6m bid for Anderlecht ace Steven Defour to strengthen his midfield options.
The Saints are still in the market for a replacement to fill the void left by Victor Wanyama, who joined Tottenham Hotspur earlier this window.
According to The Sun, Defour has been targeted as an ideal option after signalling his intent to move away from the Belgian top flight.
It is claimed that Southampton face real competition from Qatari outfit Al-Arabi, however, with a number of his compatriots already at the club.
Defour made 41 appearances for Anderlecht in all competitions last term, but was only used as a second-half sub in their opening league fixture of this season against Royal Excel Mouscron at the weekend.
