Phil Brown has spoken of his relief after his Southend United side picked up their first win of the campaign with a 2-1 win over Peterborough United on Saturday afternoon.
Brown's charges earned their maiden League One victory at the seventh attempt, and the Southend boss felt that his team were well worth the points at Roots Hall.
"It's a little bit of the anxiety relieved now," Brown told Sky Sports News. "It's just when you get five or six games into a competition and you still haven't proved that you belong there.
"I think we've added some quality and it's not just the squad that we had last year and the majority of them can [play in this league]. I thought it was a good advert for the league and we had a bit of quality in front of goal.
"Peterborough, they played their part in a good game of football but if we had drawn I would have rued the day because we deserved it."
