Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes could start for Spain against Finland in their World Cup qualifier at El Molinon in Gijon on Friday.
Coach Vicente del Bosque says that the injury to captain Iker Casillas means that the 31-year-old could play between the posts ahead of Manchester United's David de Gea.
"Victor has a better chance, but we still have to think about it," ESPNSoccernet quotes Del Bosque as saying.
"Iker not being here is a pain for us, but it also lets us bring along a kid (De Gea) who is going to have an important role with the national team in the coming years. This connection is going to be very good for him."
Spain currently lead Group I with seven points from three matches.
