Sporting Kansas City have moved clear at the top of the MLS Eastern Conference with a 3-0 win over Columbus Crew.
Peter Vermes's men are now three points ahead of second-placed Montreal Impact, although they have played three games more.
The points looked destined to stay in Kansas from the sixth minute when the referee pointed to the spot after Benny Feilhaber had drawn a foul from Will Trapp inside the area. That allowed Claudio Bieler to put the hosts ahead at Sporting Park.
Soony Saad doubled the lead just before the break, before Oriol Rosell crossed for CJ Sapong to head past Matt Lampson 10 minutes after the restart.
There was no way back for the visitors, who remain in eighth - two points behind the Chicago Fire.
