Harry Kane has claimed that Tuesday night's 1-1 draw at Real Madrid in the Champions League shows just how far Tottenham Hotspur have come as a team.
Mauricio Pochettino's charges took the lead in the 28th minute at the Bernabeu when Raphael Varane diverted Serge Aurier's right-wing cross into his own net.
Los Blancos drew level before half time, however, when Aurier's rash challenge on Toni Kroos was punished with a penalty, Cristiano Ronaldo making no mistake from 12 yards out.
"We are happy. Of course they are going to have chances but we played well and made it tough for them," Kane told BT Sport.
"A point at the Bernabeu, you would take that every day of the week. It shows how far we have come as a team."
"It puts us in a great position and we play them again in a fortnight. It shows we can handle it at this level and that what it is all about."
The result moves Tottenham ahead of Real at the top of Group H at the halfway stage, having now scored more away goals than their opponents.
