Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino has suggested that the leg injury sustained by Toby Alderweireld is not serious.
The defender was forced off during the second half of the club's 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, leading to suggestions that the Belgian international could be set for a prolonged period on the sidelines.
However, while Spurs are still awaiting results of a scan on the injury, Pochettino is confident that one of his star players will be fit enough to return to action sooner rather than later.
The Argentine told reporters: "First of all, we are still awaiting the results from the scan but we do not think it is a big issue.
"He received a very heavy knock on his leg and now we must wait on the results of the scan which were taken this afternoon."
Alderweireld is likely to miss out when Spurs face Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
