Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Danny Rose has apologised after being sent off in the 1-1 draw with Aston Villa.
Rose had replaced the injured Benoit Assou-Ekotto at left-back in the starting lineup before being dismissed for a clumsy challenge on Alan Hutton after 50 minutes.
The 21-year-old has since said that he is sorry for the red card over Twitter.
Rose tweeted: "So so sorry about today ... There was a slight nudge before the challenge but doesn't justify it at all. Wouldn't intentionally do that as Hutton is a friend !!! To the few people who have tweeted support thanks a lot ! To those of my own fans who tweeted abuse thanks as well !!"
Rose has made 20 appearances for Spurs this season with 11 of those coming in the Premier League.
