Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly identified Vincent Kompany as a candidate to become their next head coach.

Earlier this month, the North London made the decision to part ways with Antonio Conte, just over a week after the Italian had launched a scathing attack on his players after a 3-3 draw at Southampton.

Cristian Stellini has since been placed in interim charge, assisted by Ryan Mason, leaving Spurs to contemplate a permanent replacement in the background.

A wide array of names have been linked with the position, most notably that of Julian Nagelsmann who has become available after his shock sacking at Bayern Munich.

Former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, ex-Spain coach Luis Enrique and Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Roberto De Zerbi have also emerged as possible alternatives to Conte.

Nevertheless, according to The Sun, chairman Daniel Levy may eventually move for Kompany.

The report describes the Belgian as a 'leading contender' having moved Burnley to the brink of an immediate return to the Premier League in his first season at Turf Moor.

The Clarets sit 13 points clear at the top of the Championship table and require just nine points from as many matches to participate in the top flight in 2023-24.

As it stands, it appears likely that the Manchester City legend will be leading Burnley's attempt to re-establish themselves in the Premier League.

Nevertheless, it is claimed that Kompany would give consideration to accepting the Spurs job should it be offered to him in due course.

While the length of Kompany's contract at Burnley has not been officially disclosed, it is known to run until at least 2026.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has recently indicated that he would expect Kompany to be in the running to replace him at the Etihad Stadium whenever he opts to leave the club.

The 37-year-old has put together a remarkable record of 29 wins and just four defeats in 45 matches as Burnley boss, those losses coming away at Watford, Sheffield United, Manchester United and Man City. body check tags ::
