Emmanuel Adebayor has reportedly thrown his chances of signing permanently for Tottenham Hotspur into doubt after requesting that Manchester City give him a £5m transfer fee.
The two parties are believed to have been locked in talks over the Togolese frontman, who experienced a prolific season-long loan at White Hart Lane during the last Premier League campaign.
It is thought that the 28-year-old's advisers requested that City pay Adebayor a £5m transfer fee as compensation, which was swiftly rejected by the Premier League champions, according to the Daily Star.
Reports have claimed that Adebayor has been unwilling to drop his wages down from £175,000 a week, which has prompted speculation that Spurs could end their pursuit of Adebayor and switch their attentions to Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski.
