Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly use Andros Townsend and Benjamin Stambouli as makeweights in a summer move for Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.
Arsenal have previously been linked with the £20m-rated Frenchman but are reported to have had second thoughts due to Francis Coquelin's emergence this season.
Spurs are now confident of securing his signature and hope to use Townsend and Stambouli as tools to help lower the asking price, according to the Evening Standard.
Chelsea are also thought to be monitoring the 25-year-old - whose contract expires in 2017 - but moves for Paul Pogba and Koke take priority over Schneiderlin, the report claims.
The France international, who played under Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino at St Mary's, has made 26 Premier League appearances for the Saints this season.
