Mark Hughes: 'FA Cup triumph would be huge'

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes admits that winning the FA Cup as a manager would mean more to him than his triumphs in the competition during his playing days.

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has revealed that to win the FA Cup as a manager would mean more to him than his triumphs as a player.

The 51-year-old won the competition four times as a player, but has yet to win the tournament or any other silverware since making the transition into management.

Hughes is determined to take the Potters one step closer to the FA Cup final when they take on Blackburn Rovers in the fifth round at Ewood Park later today.

He told reporters: "I've not won anything as a manager. I've been to a couple of semi-finals in the League Cup and FA Cup. But never made the final step.

"It's never been about what I achieve personally, it's about doing what I can to push on the club. It's not an easy game, Blackburn are playing a Premier League side with nothing to lose.

"Would a medal mean more to me as a manager than a player? You'd have to say yes. As a manager you are trying to drive a group of players forward."

Stoke reached the final of the FA Cup in 2011, their best performance in the competition to date.
