Tony Pulis has thanked the Gillingham supporters for the reception that they gave him this afternoon.
The 53-year-old returned to the Priestfield Stadium this afternoon with his Stoke City side for a FA Cup tie, having previously managed the Gills for four years up until 1999.
A bust-up with chairman Paul Scully saw Pulis leave the club but he was still given a warm applause by the home faithful.
"To be warmly applauded by four sides of the ground is pretty special," Pulis told BBC Radio Five Live. "It doesn't happen very often.
"I think the Gillingham fans remember what I did at this football club."
Stoke won the match 3-1.
