Jack Butland will challenge Joe Hart to become England's first-choice goalkeeper, says Stoke City's Geoff Cameron.

Stoke City defender Geoff Cameron has said that Jack Butland can become England's first-choice goalkeeper in the next few years.

Butland has played in both of Stoke's last two games due to an injury to first-choice keeper Asmir Begovic, and he signed a new long-term contract with the club earlier this season.

Reports suggest that Begovic will move on in the summer which would make Butland the Potters' number one, and Cameron insists that he has all the attributes to reach the very top.

He told Sky Sports News: "I think he can be number one, definitely push Joe Hart. He's a fantastic keeper. He's had to be patient, but he's proved that in training and in all the loan spells he's had.

"He's England's third back up keeper for a reason, England realise his huge potential. And if he keeps playing every weekend, he can only improve.

"He's got a fantastic frame of mind, works really hard in the gym, he's always very professional, so he has a really bright future. You saw his ability with some of the saves he made against Spurs, he's got good feet too, he really has got everything you want in a keeper."

Butland joined Stoke from Birmingham City in 2013.
