Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has said that his side played some of their best football in the 1-0 victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park this afternoon.
Marko Arnautovic scored the only goal of the game as Hughes's side recorded back-to-back Premier League wins to move up to 14th place.
"I was pleased with what we produced, it was a performance that we have been looking for. The first half was some of the best stuff we have played in terms of controlling the game," Hughes told BBC Sport.
"In the second half, we knew they would come at us, but we defended really well. I thought Marko Arnautovic was excellent today, offensively and defensively.
"He puts a shift in. It wasn't an easy chance, but thankfully he took it. It would have been hard to take had we not taken maximum points today."
Stoke are next in action when they face Swansea City on October 19 at the Liberty Stadium.
