Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has claimed that it is "too early" to make a decision on whether new striker Michael Owen will make his debut for the club against Manchester City this weekend.
The former Manchester United forward signed for the Potters earlier this month on a one-year deal after he was let go from Old Trafford at the end of the season.
"From what the lads say, he has come back a lot fitter than what we thought he would," said Pulis.
"He needs a lot more work with the ball and being in small-sided games for his sharpness, but we are pleased with the way he has come back."
Owen added: "I feel as if I am fit enough to take part in a game. I'm not quite 100% confident or happy in my general touch and different bits and bobs, but that will come."
Stoke welcome the Premier League champions to the Britannia on Saturday.
