Stoke City have confirmed that they will appeal the Football Association's decision to charge Charlie Adam with violent conduct.
Adam has been charged in relation to an altercation involving himself and Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud during Saturday's 1-0 win for Stoke at the Britannia Stadium.
"Charlie and the club are surprised and disappointed to learn of this and will appeal vigorously against the decision," read a statement on Stoke's official website.
Adam has scored seven goals in 30 games for the Potters this season.
