Vedad Ibisevic scored the winning goal as Stuttgart earned a 2-1 victory over basement club Augsburg this evening.
After Ibrahima Traore had put the home side ahead, Ja-Cheol Koo levelled for the visitors before Ibisevic struck with less than 25 minutes to play to give Stuttgart the win.
Having started the game on the front foot, Stuttgart took the lead through Traore after he was set up by Ibisevic inside 12 minutes.
The hosts remained in the ascendancy, with Traore, Christian Gentner and Raphael Holzhauser all going close for Stuttgart.
However, Augsburg levelled just before half time as Koo's strike ensured that the teams went into the break with the score at 1-1.
Both sides had chances in the early stages of the second half, but it was Stuttgart who retook the lead, after Traore returned the favour to Ibisevic for his earlier assist as the latter put the hosts back in front.
The hosts held on for the win, which moves them up to 11th in the Bundesliga table, while Augsburg remain rooted to the bottom of the league.
