Sunderland and Stoke City are playing out a 1-1 draw in this evening's League Cup clash at the Stadium of Light.
The Black Cats were dominant in the early stages, Jack Rodwell blasting an effort wide after just a few minutes played.
The deadlock was eventually broken by the home side in the 16th minute when Jozy Altidore turned on the edge of the box and smashed the ball into the bottom corner past Potters goalkeeper Jack Butland.
On the half-hour mark, however, Stoke equalised thanks to Marc Muniesa, whose shot was knocked over the line by Costel Pantilimon's leg.
Controversy then ensued when Steven N'Zonzi and Rodwell were booked for clashing in front of the dugouts with eight minutes remaining.
The half ended with both sides trading dangerous chances, Jordi Gomez and Phil Bardsley coming close for Sunderland and Stoke respectively.
