Sunderland manager David Moyes has insisted that his side were denied a "blatant" penalty during their League Cup defeat at Southampton.
The Black Cats boss was sent to the stand for reacting angrily after Victor Anichebe's tumble inside the box was ignored by the referee, with his team going on to lose 1-0.
"I couldn't believe the referee didn't see. It for me was blatant, we didn't deserve to lose the game and we lost it to a special goal," Moyes told reporters.
"We had great chances to get through. It will change."
Southampton progressed to the quarter-finals of the competition thanks to a second-half strike from their record signing Sofiane Boufal.
