Sunderland goalkeeper Vito Mannone has admitted his disappointment at the club's defeat to Manchester City in the Barclays Asia Trophy final.
The Black Cats were beaten 1-0 in Hong Kong on Saturday, as Edin Dzeko's early strike split the teams.
"Everyone is disappointed, we came here wanting to win the tournament," Mannone told the club's official website. "We really took it seriously and we wanted to win.
"We did a good job and I don't think we let ourselves down. The pitch didn't help us, it made it difficult for both teams but we did the best we could."
Sunderland start the new Premier League campaign at home to Fulham on August 17.
