Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill has revealed that he has been "very, very pleased" with Jack Colback's performances since he took over at the club.
The 22-year-old midfielder, who spent last season on loan with Ipswich Town, scored his first goal for the Black Cats against Everton on Boxing Day.
"Jack Colback deserved his goal," O'Neill told the club's official website. "He played very well when he came on and he's a young man with a decent future ahead of him.
"I've been very, very pleased with him since I've arrived and I'm sure he's been doing fine long before that."
Colback joined Sunderland at the age of 11.
