Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has spoken of his delight following his side's 3-1 victory against Crystal Palace.
Steven Fletcher's double and a strike from Jordi Gomez earned the Black Cats their first win in three games and moved them up to 15th in the Premier League table.
"I am pleased because it was a day that was all about winning, fighting, playing ugly when you have to and pass when you have to," BBC Sport quotes him as saying. "We scored three goals but Julian Speroni made a couple of good saves as well.
"We were a little stronger going forward and believed in creating chances. We got lucky, because I think probably the penalty at the beginning looks like it was.
"It was tough [for Palace]. The first minute of the game. Everyone told me it was a penalty, I didn't see it but sometimes you need a bit of luck."
Sunderland will play Everton in their next Premier League match on Sunday.
