Sunderland have reportedly moved a step close to securing loan deals for Leroy Fer and Yann M'Vila.
It was reported on Monday that the Black Cats had made an approach for Queens Park Rangers midfielder Fer, while M'Vila has been repeatedly linked with a switch to the Stadium of Light due to his reported unhappiness at Rubin Kazan.
According to The Shields Gazette, Fer will arrive from QPR on a season-long loan, but there is no deal in place for the move to be made permanent.
The report suggests that Sunderland will have the option to sign M'Vila on a permanent basis at a later date, and both players could be available for the start of the new campaign.
Sunderland start the season with a trip to Leicester City on Saturday.
