Sunderland striker Connor Wickham believes that his side didn't deserve to lose to Everton in their Premier League clash at the Stadium of Light.
The Black Cats fell to their fifth defeat in a row as Wes Brown sliced Gerard Deulofeu's cross into his own net to leave Gus Poyet's side rooted to the foot of the table.
"We didn't deserve to lose at all," Wickham told the club's official website. "It was an unfortunate goal, we defended solidly and I thought we played well.
"They got that break and it knocked a bit of wind out of us, but we didn't give up, we had chances to maybe take a point. We've got good players but it wasn't to be and they got that bit of luck that maybe we need."
Sunderland are 20th in the Premier League with 25 points from 32 games this season.
