Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat has expressed his belief that his side's fight against relegation from the Premier League will go down to the final game of the season.
The Black Cats earned a vital victory in their battle to remain in the top flight as a brace from Jordi Gomez fired them to a 2-1 win over Southampton at the Stadium of Light.
Advocaat told reporters: "We still have everything in our own hands. Newcastle are a bit closer now. They have to win their games now, otherwise it will be very difficult for them.
"I think it will be exciting until the last game maybe."
Sunderland are 18th in the Premier League, one point adrift of safety, with four games remaining in their season.
