Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has admitted that he has struggled to control his emotions during the club's fight to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
The Black Cats moved out of the drop zone on the weekend following their 4-0 victory against fellow strugglers Cardiff City at the Stadium of Light.
A run of five straight defeats from the end of March left Poyet visibly frustrated on the touchline, but the former Brighton boss believes that it is all part of the job.
"I care a lot, I want to say too much, but I will just say a lot, for the club I work for," the 46-year-old is quoted as saying by The Northern Echo. "I need to control my emotions, but I am a human being.
"I can control my emotions for a while, but I'm still learning to control it for a long time. That doesn't mean I'm going to control it forever, it's not that easy.
"In terms of what I believe, I am still the same. But I am a human being. Over three months, you can try to hide your emotions, but like any other person, there is a limit. Maybe I'm not that good an actor. There were moments in the season that were difficult."
Sunderland are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United.
