Sunderland have ended their pre-season friendly programme by securing a 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund in Austria.
Thomas Tuchel's charges took the lead in the 18th minute when Jack Rodwell cleared the ball into the path of former Liverpool midfielder Nuri Sahin, who rifled home.
The Black Cats set about trying to pull a goal back and were almost successful within seconds of the restart, but Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Burki did well to get down low and deny winger Wahbi Khazri.
David Moyes's charges regrouped in the second half and were able to equalise just after the hour as Jeremain Lens's free kick was nodded into the net by Lamine Kone.
