Harry Redknapp's reign as Queens Park Rangers manager has begun with a goalless draw at Sunderland this evening.
QPR were the first to threaten when Djibril Cisse headed wide before Sunderland had an attempt of their own through Craig Gardner, who fizzed a free kick past the upright.
Rangers keeper Julio Cesar kept out Carlos Cuellar's header on the quarter-hour mark as Cisse continued to threaten at the other end, firing a speculative effort just wide from 30 yards.
The sides went in level at the break thanks to both goalkeepers as first Simon Mignolet thwarted Jamie Mackie before Cesar reacted quickly to beat away Steven Fletcher's low shot.
Cesar was removed at half-time by Redknapp and in came Robert Green. He showed his worth with a sharp save from Fletcher's flicked header in the 64th minute.
Both managers made changes in an attempt to try to liven up a sombre affair but the net wasn't made to bulge.
A point sees both clubs stay put in the Premier League, with Sunderland 16th and QPR bottom, six points from safety.
