Sunderland have earned a comfortable 2-0 win away at FC Stade Nyonnais in Monday night's pre-season friendly at the Centre Sportif de Colovray Nyon.
Black Cats goalkeeper Vito Mannone was called into action immediately as he was forced to turn a long-range effort over the crossbar after just two minutes.
David Moyes's charges were able to get a foothold into the game, however, and six minutes before the break, Duncan Watmore won a penalty after being hacked down in the box, opting to take it himself and converting from the spot.
On the stroke of half time, George Honeyman was also brought down in the area, prompting the referee to award a second Sunderland penalty, and once again, Watmore delivered from 12 yards out.
No goals were scored by either side in the second half, though Mannone had to be alert to thwart a number of Nyonnais chances, including a long-range drive from Salihaj Besnik in the 75th minute.
