John O'Shea has been left out of Sunderland's squad for their match against Southampton after suffering a recurrence of a hamstring injury.
The defender had been expected back after missing the 6-2 defeat to Everton last weekend, but Younes Kaboul is fit enough to return, replacing Wes Brown.
There are four changes in total for Sam Allardyce, with Ola Toivonen, Jordi Gomez and Duncan Watmore, who makes his first Premier League start, all coming in, while Jermain Defoe and Patrick van Aanholt both drop to the bench.
Meanwhile, Ronald Koeman makes two changes following the 2-0 win over Bournemouth last Sunday, with Maya Yoshida and James Ward-Prowse both recalled.
Victor Wanyama misses out through suspension, while Cedric Soares drops to the bench for the visiting side.
