Swansea City have been unable to make the breakthrough against Newcastle United despite being on top for most of the first half at the Liberty Stadium.
The home side came close to breaking the deadlock early on when Michu flicked on Jonathan de Guzman's free kick and Ashley Williams turned it toward goal.
However, his effort was hacked clear off the line.
De Guzman then had a dip at goal from around 20 yards out, which stung the palms of Rob Elliot. He could only parry the ball away before it was cleared.
Another chance fell to Gary Monk from De Guzman's free kick, but his header from eight yards out went over the bar and the Magpies escaped again.
