Goalkeeper Dorus de Vries reveals that he now regrets his decision to leave Swansea City following their promotion to the Premier League in 2011.

Dorus de Vries has revealed that he now regrets his decision to leave Swansea City shortly after their promotion to the Premier League.

The Dutch goalkeeper signed for Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2011 in the aftermath of Brendan Rodgers leading the Swans out of the Championship, in the belief that he was joining a more established top-flight side.

However, he struggled to hold down a regular first-team spot at Molineux before moving on to current club Nottingham Forest two years ago.

When asked if he felt that he should have remained at the Liberty Stadium, De Vries told Wales Online: "Definitely now. At the beginning I thought I had made the right choice, I was getting out of my comfort zone and I was trying to develop as a player and also as a human being.

"Unfortunately it didn't turn out to be the right choice. I regret that choice now definitely. If you see how it turns out, I am the same goalkeeper and the same person, but things haven't fallen for me.

"The Swansea style of play really suited me as well. That's exactly the way I wanted to play, and it's frustrating sometimes when other teams don't play that way. It's one of the more unusual styles isn't it, and I miss that."

De Vries has made 19 starts for both Wolves and Forest since leaving Swansea.
