Swansea City midfielder Nathan Dyer has defended the tackle that earned him a red card against Wigan Athletic last weekend.
The 24-year-old will miss his side's next three games after referee Andre Marriner dismissed him for a high tackle on Jordi Gomez in the Swans' 2-0 victory.
"I went for the ball - I'm certainly not a malicious player," said Dyer. "I asked the ref what it was for but he just told me to get off the pitch.
"There was minimal contact. It was a yellow card at best in my opinion - it was not worthy of a straight red.
"Everyone I have spoken to, including people outside of the club, feels the same way."
Dyer is expected to return for the Swans when they travel to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, April 1.
