Garry Monk: 'Setbacks are common in football'

Swansea City boss Garry Monk insists that last week's draw with Everton was a "good point", despite extending their winless run to two games.

Swansea City boss Garry Monk has revealed that he remains pleased with his side, despite seeing them fail to build on their impressive start to the season.

The Welsh club secured eight points from their opening four games, but just one point from fixtures against Watford and Everton has left the Swans down in seventh position in the table.

However, Monk has insisted that a "panic button" has not been pressed, something he feels has been suggested in questions from the media.

The 36-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "The way I am getting asked things is as if we are reaching for the panic button or something. We have only lost one game in the Premier League, let's not forget that.

"I think these questions [about Swansea's form] stem from the Watford performance, which we were disappointed with and didn't see coming.

"But the nature of this sport is that you get setbacks. What is important is you react to them well and we did that against Everton to get a good point."

Swansea face Southampton at St Mary's on Saturday afternoon.
